Spring 2010 wrap-up

Another season finished, Season 11 that is and another ho-hum Matt Watkins Championship. Great Job Matt. More on him later. We had 39 different racers drive at least one event with 14 drivers running at least 10 events. We had 4 drivers,(Matt, Weber, Raymond and Francis), run all 19 events. Thanks for coming out guys. All told, we ran 1988 laps with 75 cautions for 296 laps. That is the same amount of cautions we had last season exactly. On average we had 14.9 drivers with 3.9 cautions for 15.5 laps per race. We had 14 races with 5 or less cautions and only two,(Texas and Martinsville), with double digit cautions. All together we were under caution for 14.9% of the season. Now on to the Drivers. Matt Watkins continues to dominate the series. He wins his 3rd consecutive Championship by running very consistent all season long. Matt finished with 5 wins, 17 top 5's and 19 top 10's. Matt also had 2 poles and led a lap in 14 races on his way to finishing on the lead lap in all but one race. He was one lap down at Kentucky but still finished 8th in that race. He had an average finish of 2.79. Great Season Matt. Second place this year went to Slim Jim Gately. Slim also had a great year. He tied Matt in wins with 5 and had an average finish of 4.50. Slim also had 13 top 5's and 16 top 10's out of 18 races. Slim led a lap in all but one race and led the most laps 8 times. He also moved up to 3rd all time in wins in the series. Another fine season Slim. For third place this season we had a tie with Pops and Weber. First up is Weber. Steve had a high finish of 2nd at Atlanta along with 3 top 5's and 14 top 10's. He also had an average finish of 9.42 and was running at the end of every race. Good job Web. Pops had a high finish of 3rd at IRP to go along with his 7 top 5's and 14 top 10's. Pops had an average finish of 7.67 and finished on the lead lap in 15 of the 18 races he ran. Good season pops. The team championship went to Monsoon Motorsports by a wide margin. Almost 200 points. Great job guys. We had 5 drivers get their first win in the series this season. They were Roy Cutshaw at Texas, Jeff hale at Daytona, Duane Buchler his first two at Atlanta and Kentucky on back to back weeks, Kevin Lewis at Martinsville and Ken Skjei at Dover. Congrats guys.
A special thankyou goes out to Slim Sim Racing for sponsoring the series this season. Thanks a ton Slim. Thanks also goes out to Jim Ray for giving us a great place to race week in and week out. Great Job J. Thanks goes out to all the guys that come out on Sunday mornings to race every week. You guys make this an easy series to Admin and I am looking forward to next season already. Thanks and we will see you next season. (Pat Cross 5/24/10)

SERIES BACKGROUND

If you are looking for a very clean, entry level truck series, then look no further.  This Sportsman Truck Series has it all.  Every Sunday morning before any NASCAR races on TV, FSB drivers can get after it on the exact same tracks as the Pro Truck Series.  This series schedule mirrors the Pro Trucks each week and was designed to be practice sessions for the Pro Trucks.
Years later, it has developed into a great series of it's own.  Long green flag runs are common even on the shorter tracks the trucks run.  Both of our truck series copy the real Craftsman Truck Series schedule as best we can. See a truck race on TV over the weekend?  Race the same track Sunday. Pretty simple.
This series began years ago on Thursday nights. It instantly became a huge success.  When the Pro Trucks moved to Thursdays, this series moved to the weekends and never fell off. First is was "Demon," then William Wallace took the reigns as the admin. Now, Pat Cross has the duty and does a kick ass job each Sunday morning.  With 6 full seasons and over 110 events in the books, this series is one of the best here at fsb racing.
Start your Sunday off with Sportsman Trucks....  JR 1/4/08
